I call it "the object and its traces are a static language". This topic of the project starts from the traces of objects, starting with identifying the value of objects, and looking at exploring the relationship between humans and the object through emotionally durability and appliance-centered design''
The purpose of this project is to design a way to extend the emotional relationship between people and objects and to focus on the lifespan of objects. I want to create a new design field to rethink, remove the focus from the user's experience, and put it on the experience of the object, which means how to change the design instead of considering the user, I am considering the life of the object. I call this process "appliance-centered design". Therefore, in the way of my project summary, I focus on how to express from the perspective of the object, it is about developing a form of value and respect for the object by bringing the person in the objects together. so that the person can experience the behavior of the objects and then that helps them value the object or empathize with the objects.
The audience of my project is more oriented towards designers, I think what I was doing is an extension of those design approaches but my contribution is to provide empathy between the designer and the objects. At the same time, I think this is also a way to allow users to Pay more attention to the item itself.
The inspiration for this project originated from an eye disease that I had last May. I have infected with virus keratitis and fell into endless pain. As my eyesight blurred, I became very worried and afraid. No one could understand my feeling. It was a painful month. Therefore, in this project, I conducted research on comprehensive material and images to express my vision and emotion during the time when I was ill.
In 2022, the traditional mainstream social model remains solid in China. Homosexuals a group of people who are out of mainstream society and also deemed as socially marginalized people has the tough living condition. Most homosexual people can not come out and build their own life. Instead, most of them prefer to hide their sexual orientation under the pressure of society and their families. So they naturally decide to have a ‘fake marriage’ or ‘marriage for convenience’ (a gay marry a lesbian) to keep their secrets.
My work ends up in two forms. One is ‘Photo Bizarre’, which changed the original meaning of the photos by stitching lines on them. All the couples become fake couples and all the people in the photos seem like suffered a lot because of their homosexual identity. The photos bring a strong sense of bizarre and offer much food for thought.
Secondly, it’s ‘Underground Film’, we keep the secret in the film because the medium of negatives has a hidden, realistic meaning. It accentuates the grief about the convenience of married people. And it also expresses those people have to hide in order to enter the
mainstream society.
In the development of the current time, intelligence has become an irreplaceable part of our life. Our life has been gradually invaded by intelligence. The appearance of a “heads-down tribe”, the way we get to know the world is transformed from self-feeling to the substitution of “intelligence”.Nowadays, artificial intelligence has become a trend. As it entered people’s life, I began to ponder the changes and effects it brought to human beings and society, and moreover, what the world would be like in the future.
This project focused on the environmental impact of animal husbandry. Cows produce a great amount of methane
every day, which is one of the main vital sources of the greenhouse effect. In this project, We explored different
interventions for "cow's methane" through design, including public events and engagement.
In this project, we designed an installation that collects cow farts to make methane and designed a dialogue to trigger audience participation in this way, thereby arousing the audience's attention to cow environmental issues.
